Level-5 Planning Playstation 4 Game! Ni No Kuni Sequel?

Level-5 developer of Ni No Kuni: Wrath Of The White Witch have announced that they are planning a Playstation 4 game! Although still in planning stages they are officially working on a Playstation 4 title which they may be able to announce soon!

CEO and President Akihiro Hino -
"It is still in the planning stage, I'm going to continue working on. In addition, we may be able to announce in the near future."
(Roughly translated from Japanese to English)

With only months until Playstation 4 makes its way onto the gaming market this is very exciting news. What could this game be?

Level-5 developer of games such as Ni No Kuni, Dragon Quest VIII, Dark Cloud series, Rogue Galaxy and the Professor Layton series. Could this game be a sequel to Ni No Kuni: Wrath Of The White Witch? It had mentioned that if Ni No Kuni sold well in the west that a sequel would be a possibility. The answer to this being Ni No Kuni has done very well!

Or could this game be a new game entirely? What do you think?

Please be a sequel!!

  • A sequel to either Ni no Kuni or Dark Cloud would be a fantastic title for the PS4. Hopefully more info may flow from all the news around E3 or TGS this year :)

  • I would love to see another Ghibli inspired game, but set in a new universe, not a sequel or prequel to Ni no Kuni. That's why I like their movies, new short adventures set in a different time with an easy and simple story and there's nothing that you need to know before watching a new movie, since there's no follow ups. I think that Ni no Kuni solved all the story plots, so there's not much to go on, so they could just do something similar in a new world with new characters.

Not that I wouldn't want a Ni no Kuni II but still. Let's hope that they will show something at E3, I will be watching the live stream 24/7 like always :)

  • Maybe a new White Knight Chronicles game, although I wish it's Ni no Kuni 2.

cute, but psycho... things even out...
  • It seems to be unanimous that we would all love to see a sequel or new story developed my Studio Ghibli and Level-5. I am a huge Studio Ghibli fan and loved every minute of Ni No Kuni. I also enjoyed the music as well as the artwork, in particular I absolutely loved Golden Grove. Walking through Golden Grove for the first time was magical. I cant wait to find out what they have planned for us!

  • At least, we can assume the game will most probably be an RPG as Level-5 mostly develop that kind of games. Usually those are very good! I remember playing Jean D'Arc (PSP) from them. Haven't yet bought Ni No Kuni (only had time to try the demo), but I will get it eventually of course.

Seconded. One of the awesome things about Studio Ghibli's films is that there is a clear ending. Their works don't need a sequel/prequel because everything has already been mastered to perfection. So in my honest opinion, I think it's better if we get a brand new Ghibli game instead of a sequel to Ni No Kuni. I love how the game starts like a fairy tale, and ends like one too. A sequel probably wouldn't [need to] have that as it's the sequel. Ah, well, that's my thoughts on this anyway.

Use brings about wear, tear and rust. And that's a real waste

Not really needed anyway, they incorporate most of the features into other games anyway. Rogue Galaxy had Dark Cloud elements lol. So did White Knight Chronicles to a degree.
